The Steelmen of Stonehaven!
A great bunch of cyclists over last week from Stonehaven. All successful professionals with demanding jobs, but to a man, strong as a turk on the bicicleta! I think we just squeezed over the 400 miles mark for the tour with an impressive bevvy session the last night after an 18-strong fuel stop at the best pizza joint in Girona - Amarcord.
Thanks guys, and see you next time :)
My season? I never really got going in Duathlon after my arm break. A couple of nasty bugs would invariably crop up just as I was approaching full fitness. The extent of my Catalan Du season, for which I had such high hopes, was a DNF at Banyoles (too soon after flu), 4th at Castellfollit (just a few seconds down but no sharpness) and a 4th at Vic, decent as up against Zamora and Pontano, yet subsequently disqualified for not wearing the electronic chip on my shoe. With that in the locker I didn't see the point in returning to Edinburgh for the Scots/Brit champs. which was originally the main aim of the season. Still not looked for that result as it has pissed me off not being able to do it.
Ho-hum, asi es la vida de una deportista. Now focussing on the bike and will return for the Scottish RR champs on 2nd July - mainly to help out my brother Stuart and form part of a strong C21 Multisport/Specialised team - but also to see what I can do on the bike if I stop running for a while. . .
hasta la proxima!
